THinking about it a bit more, it seems like a huge project, but I've had the following thoughts:

Pawn: hobbit dressed in basic chain mail and a round helmet (Breeland style?)
Rook: Urur's outfit here.
Knight: man dressed in Cavalry hauberk (it even has a horse head symbol!)
Bishop: two possibilities: (1) man with long robe and cloak and the hat Wasabito had below; (2) man in wizard-like attire.
Queen: elf lady in elegant long dress and circlet headgear.
King: elf or man wearing the crown-like Dunland headgear (used in your Templar) and expensive-looking plate armour.

Now we need 32 volunteers, and a big enough area of square paving...

But maybe this is one of those ideas which is more fun to think about than actually do. :-)Brrokknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8197914512000128593.post-59651649602930619152012-02-16T15:01:40.218+01:002012-02-16T15:01:40.218+01:00brrokk, that's an excellent idea! however, red...brrokk, that's an excellent idea! however, red or black figures might be quite easy, but i can't imagine finding appropriate pieces in white... can't we have, let's say, red & blue chess set? :DFreyjuskahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11375262281763737826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8197914512000128593.post-58337195077592221512012-02-16T11:09:36.902+01:002012-02-16T11:09:36.902+01:00Sorry, just noticed it was a guest submission. (A big problem for dwarves is often to get a shield to match the armour; a great axe gets round this nicely).

And this outfit has given me an idea for a new challenge. A ridiculous challenge. One outfit for every piece of a chess set! Colours could be white/black or (as here) white/red. I hope it's obvious which red piece you've already done here...Brrokknoreply@blogger.com
