Wish-based inspiration: Altair (Assassin's Creed)

Today's inspiration was suggested on Snowbourn globallff about a month ago. I was waiting for Rise of Isengard to be released, because I knew there would be this amazing hauberk among the quest rewards. The red belt is missing for perfection, but I compensated for it with a red cloak (although Altair did not wear any).

In the year 1190 AD, the wars of the Third Crusade engulfed the Holy Land, and Crusaders clashed with Saracens for control of the Holy City, Jerusalem. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, a member of the Assassins, returned home to Alep from an arduous journey and found it under attack by the sworn enemies of the Assassins, the Knights Templar. Left with no choice but to repel the attack, the Assassin defeated many of them, even killing a low-ranking captain before the attack was halted.
Assassin's Creed Wiki: Altaïr's Chronicles

Even though the role-playing background of this outfit has little in common with Middle-earth lore, it's very fitting for a human burglar. Assassins in Assassin's Creed are a secret society of warriors committed to the protection of humanity against the Templars. They oppose the Templars and their goal of complete dominance over humanity, and promote free will and the right of individuality. They abide to the Creed, a set of three rules that dictate the daily life of an Assassin. The three tenets are: stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent, hide in plain sight, do not compromise the Brotherhood.

Sounds very light-side burglar-ish to me :) Please let me know what do you think of the outfit in the comments!
Chest: Polished Hauberk of the Dunland Shieldman, default dye (Dunland quest)
Head: Hood of Night, white dye (Halls of Night cosmetic)
Shoulders: Hill-man's Cracked Leather Shoulder-guards, white dye (Dunland quest)
Hands: Enduring Dwarf Steel Gauntlets of Might, white dye (world drop)
Feet: Weathered Leather Scout's Boots, umber dye (Dunland quest)
Back: Warden's Wrap, red dye (Annuminas reputation barter)

  1. Do you happen to recall which quest (or the quest hub) that led to the Polished Hauberk? I absolutely love the look! Fantastic work.

  2. i encountered this design twice already (second one had different name, which i don't remember), and i'm 90% sure one of them was in Starkmoor (helping Andras' son). i'm glad you like it :))

  3. It does drop from the Andras' son; however on a female human it is much shorter than the screen shots above. Could there be more than one? Thanks again for answering the inquiries!

  4. I noticed too that on a female the design is very different. It is quite common in Lotro and seems to be the rule with the new RoI armour pieces that male and female designs are different. I've seen it with the robe, boots and hauberks.

Great robe this one, but it annoys me that it has green sleeves that cannot be dyed :(

  5. both my 65+ characters are hobbit lasses, so i can only tell from their perspective (as i threw out the other one) - both versions of this hauberk looked the same on my hobbits (same length). and this one i used and have in the wardrobe is indeed short of female human as you said :/

  6. Wow, amazing how well that outfit works out to look like Altair

  7. Cool outfit design, a way to make it even better (I think anyway) may be the OD burglar gloves (sienna/umber dye), quite easy to get now RoI is out, 90 NM marks, and with attached blades would really complete it. Not sure the look would work for my stumpy hobbit though.

  8. ok, this looks absolutly awsome, any idea if it is possible to achive a smilar look for thoser of us who have not got high end characters tho?

  9. thanks much guys! :)

eclirthan, thanks for the great tip, the OD gloves look very similar to altair's!

ad lower level items for this outfit: unfortunately, the most significant piece here is the hauberk and nothing really similar is available in pre-RoI regions. you will have to be level 65+ to get, but then it's really easy (at least some positive news :)
