Guest: Captain of the Iron Garrison by Urur

Urur started his carer in the garrison just when the dwarves entered Moria to reclaim it. In the mines he quickly showed his worth as a fighter, as well as a leader, and quickly rose through the ranks. His weapon of choice is his two-handed axe, Nambalanta, which is a gift from the Lord of the Golden Wood himself. He was given the axe after successfully having lead an expedition into the depths of Moria to slay the Mistress of Pestilence herself.

Urur said about this outfit: "It might not be the most creative outfit, but I love it. I have used it for years, I have made several other outfits, but none of them stuck like this one (I think it's those shoulders - dwarves just look so badass wearing them :P)" And I completely agree! :)

Crimson is LoTRO Fashion's colour of the week during the Fashion Week! If you want to recreate this outfit, grab a free crimson dye off the Store!

  1. Really very dwarvish! Heavily armoured and magnificent. The axe goes with it nicely, too. (A big problem for dwarves is often to get a shield to match the armour; a great axe gets round this nicely).

And this outfit has given me an idea for a new challenge. A ridiculous challenge. One outfit for every piece of a chess set! Colours could be white/black or (as here) white/red. I hope it's obvious which red piece you've already done here...

    1. Sorry, just noticed it was a guest submission. Could still make a good challenge though.

  2. brrokk, that's an excellent idea! however, red or black figures might be quite easy, but i can't imagine finding appropriate pieces in white... can't we have, let's say, red & blue chess set? :D

    1. OK, red and blue works, although I still like the idea of red & white because of "Alice through the Looking Glass". THinking about it a bit more, it seems like a huge project, but I've had the following thoughts:

Pawn: hobbit dressed in basic chain mail and a round helmet (Breeland style?)
      Rook: Urur's outfit here.
Knight: man dressed in Cavalry hauberk (it even has a horse head symbol!)
Bishop: two possibilities: (1) man with long robe and cloak and the hat Wasabito had below; (2) man in wizard-like attire.
Queen: elf lady in elegant long dress and circlet headgear.
King: elf or man wearing the crown-like Dunland headgear (used in your Templar) and expensive-looking plate armour.

Now we need 32 volunteers, and a big enough area of square paving...

But maybe this is one of those ideas which is more fun to think about than actually do. :-)

    2. uff, your ideas are amazing brrokk! i'm currently a bit overwhelmed by RL stuff, but when i have time, i will definitely give it a go. and honestly - the biggest issue i see is not how to make these outfits, but how to present the whole chess set the way that the purpose of the idea is clear and that it's entertaining at the same time (posting 6/12 similar outfits of the same theme in a row wouldn't be very good i think).
