When Accornia and her fellow pony Nuts set off for their journey, it seemed that despite his name, Nuts was actually the sane part of the duo. "You're totally nuts," he told to his young mistress (he could, because she had a rare gift of understanding the animals). "We can't go to Forochel! Not alone! I know I've been born there, but when your uncle brought me to Hobbiton, we had traveled with a lot of other hobbits and dwarves!"
Accornia stayed firm. "I am a guardian, I will protect you. You worry too much, Nuts!" she smiled. That almost drew Nuts totally nuts: "I'm not going anywhere! The monsters roaming all the way through Evendim and Forochel are dangerous, they would surely eat us in a bite!" But all his reasoning was useless. Accornia stood with her arms akimbo and uttered: "Ok, I'm going alone then!"
Of course, Nuts couldn't let her go. They were equally old, sixteen, but while a pony is already experienced and wise at that age, a hobbit is still just a kid. So they traveled together through Shire first, passed Oatbarton, Dwalling and dangers of Men Erain, until they finally entered Forochel. They hadn't met a single evil beast, except for one angry squirrel enraged by their presence. "What a relief," Nuts thought just before they met his family and Accornia's distant relatives. "We haven't been devoured after all!"
I don't think I have ever considered using crafted medium armour from the Lossoth before, because of the dull undyable navy parts. Exactly the same parts I now knew I gotta use to match the Steed of the Forochel! I think it's pretty difficult to build a matching outfit around, because its fur is deep black on the bottom and blueish-grey under the blanket. On top of that, the blanket itself is rust and Evendim blue... hardcore combination, for everyone besides the Lossoth themselves :)
This outfit is not aiming to be pretty, but rather promotes usability and tries to fit the environment. I'm happy I won the Forochel pony on a hobbit, because hobbit girls are the best models for fluffy Forochel cloaks, which make them look totally adorable. And when I was going through the screenshots I took and saw the topmost one, I immediately had the story of acorns and nuts in my mind :))
Please
let me know what do you think about the outfit in comments, or simly rate below the post's title :)
Chest: Burnished Dunlending Chestpiece, black dye (Dunland quest)
Shoulders: Leijona Shoulder Guards, black dye (T5 crafted)
Hands: Leijona Gloves, black dye (T5 crafted)
Feet: Leijona Gloves, black dye (T5 crafted)
Back: Cloak of Mammutti, navy dye (Lossoth reputation barter)
Mount: Steed of Forochel (Anniversary event)
Emotes:
./mountrearup
./hail
Note: The night/late watches screenshots were brightened and saturated to achieve the same colour palette as the daylight screenshots.
I love how goofy this pony looks in that first shot! It really does have character all its own, more so than some of the other steeds. Great job matching the Leijona armor with the mount!
ReplyDeleteyou said it really nicely about Nuts' character - the Steed of Forochel really has something to it. on the first sight I didn't like it very much, but as my hobbit was riding, it was the first pony which really seemed, walked and looked like a pony. other steeds are simply horses put size down.
DeleteOooh, lovely! I adore the blue and black together, in contrast with the warmer leather.
ReplyDeletethank you! I was not a big fan of this colour combination, but since I've built this outfit, I started to favour it - even my next outfit scheduled is brown&navy :)
DeleteThat first shot is priceless. I can see how a story developed from that look! I also like the outfit, very nice match to the Lossoth Steed. :)
ReplyDeleteindeed :D you can imagine - I was going through 1000 shots, all the same old boring ./mountrearup, and suddenly THIS looked at me :D I really started to love Nuts at that moment :))
DeleteGreat story. Really practical outfit for a cold region. I haven't tried the Forochel armour pieces much either; I must have another look. And that screenshot standing BY the horse - I guess that was quite hard to capture! Must try that too.
ReplyDeletethank you Brrokk! the outfit might suit dwarf very nicely too, but I'm a bit worried about the cloak - this type usually "stands away" from dwarven body. but the other parts, as well as other Lossoth pieces might work very well!
Deleteregarding the standing screenshot - it's actually unmounting the pony. most of screenies I got were from the moment when pony was already fading out (ghost Nuts, ayayay!), but after a while I managed to catch the right moment just before. I'm glad you like it! :)
I'll try the unmounting screen shot.
Delete"Ghost Nuts" ... hey, that would actually be a good effect with one of those skeletal steeds. :-)
aaaaa that's a terrific idea! pity I wasn't lucky on the skeletals and have none (and I didn't want to spend TP on them as they are hideous imho 0:). what a nice spooky story could be around it!
DeleteA little off-topic, but I have to agree partially -- the white-bone steed is nice and spooky for Harvestmath. The glowing green one -- I did get that one, but only for my rune-keeper with an equally obnoxious personality! (Sort of like how bright colors mean a bug or frog is poisonous?) The Marrow-painted Steed from the lockboxes is BUTT-UGLY. That is hands down the ugliest horse in game. What's next, pink??
Deletepoor skeleton horsies, what a bashing do they get from us :D actually, I like the marrow-painted one better than glowing green one. but this is really a matter of a very... special taste :D
DeleteA beautiful outfit! I got this horse too, but I haven't been able to find something fitting so far. And that first shot... how did you get that horse to look like a moose? xD Just brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI learned one think about Nuts - he makes those faces only when HE wants to :D no, really, it was one of many screenshots I took doing ./mountrearup emote and I don't have an idea which precise moment of the emote is captured here. maybe some combination of spacebar (which makes mounts shake their heads) and the emote? frankly, I have no idea :)
Deletethank you for your kind words! :)
