It seems we've just caught Khamrad in his typical mood. Drunk as a skunk, threatening everyone around (and mostly poor Rúnulf, owner and bartender at Thorin's Hall Inn, who haven't surrendered the effort to pour a little brains into his most dedicated guest). Well, not everyone can be a hero and it would be unfair to display only the honourable persons of Middle-earth - let's look at (not-so)normal folk.

Khamrad has never set his feet outside of the Blue Mountains. Everybody knows him as his reputation of local bully and drunkard precedes him. His brother is a wealthy merchant, too kind to let Khamrad starve and teach him a lesson, so he sponsors his countless mugs of ale. Last time, Khamrad mocked an honourable traveling merchant because he didn't like his clothes. However, the merchant surprised him and beat him like a gypsy toy in front of a crowd outside of the town gate.

Khamrad was humiliated and enraged and as always, he sought to drown his anger in alcohol. He started drinking in his favourite inn, but soon set off to find more, possibly free, booze. And he shouldn't have done that. For the first time ever, he left Thorin's Hall, managed to convince someone to give him a ride and found himself in the Shire. He even broke into one of the hobbit holes and drank a lot of brandy from a sinister keg the notable member of Inn League stored in his house.

When Khamrad woke up, the last thing he remembered was lying under the keg, letting drops of brandy drop into his mouth and snoring a little. What was his surprise when he found himself in a strange place he's never seen before! Horrible gigantic worms, turtles and unspeakable creatures were all he saw. Khamrad's eyes filled with tears: "What shall I do? 'tis gunna be me last day fer sure!" he mumbled to himself. Who knows if he ever gets home. Maybe he will have to start being nice to people around him - for people of Angmar are quite sensitive to rude and daring behaviour...

This outfit doesn't aim to be pretty, but rather role-play fitting. It started as an idea of building knightly outfit for a man, as I think the faceguard works really well in this context. However, I store many of my cosmetics on my dwarf model, and as I started picking the right pieces, I found myself building a dwarven outfit instead.

There are a lot of parts on this outfit that don't match at all - for instance, the blue area just under the waist, or the base colour of the leggings. But who needs a matching outfit when all he does is fighting and lying drunk on the floor? Ye be tellin' me! :)

Sir Kay, Knight of the Round Table

About Sir Kay

When I first saw the Steed of the Champion, I immediately fell in love with it. The striking sharp lines of its saddlery, unconventional combination of bright red, grey and brown - it all appealed to me very much. Even though my champion is level 11, I had to buy it at least for outfitting purposes (and who knows, maybe one day I'll give Maney a go too :). I've created a matching outfit for it based on knight theme. When I decided the outfit's finished, it was raining all over the Middle-earth, which is not very good for taking screenshots - but I decided I will use it to add dramatic atmosphere to the pictures.

It was fun to combine all the pieces - those of you who have been following my outfitting know that I love impossible combinations. I wanted to cover all unique aspects of the horse in the outfit - sharp lines, red, metallic grey, umber without making it look disturbing. I'm not sure how well did I manage it - I'll be more than grateful for your comments and ideas, so that I could improve the outfit further.

If you want to ride Steed of the Champion yourself, don't forget that you have only until May 3rd (this Thursday) to buy it. Good deal I used myself to get two nice horses in one was buying Mithril Edition on sale, about which Hymne also informed on her blog. For $15 you can get 2000 Turbine points (just enough to buy Steed of the Champion) and a unique Mithril Edition Steed of the Horse-Lords (this one is given to all of your characters).

This outfit is gentle and practical at the same time. You would never spot the sentry before lying on the ground with an arrow pierced through your heart. That is if you would be the enemy of course - elves of the Golden Wood welcome friends and cherish them. However, those who mean harm to the forest are tracked down and driven away, by all means necessary.

Running about in the snow in thin, insubstantial garments! They invite hypothermia and they won't be so merry when the pointed tips of their ears freeze! Brrokk believes in keeping warm, and here is how he does it.

The Little Match Girl

The Little Match Girl is a very sad story and I don't really want to make Sidgrid bring it alive (I equipped her with warm headgear, boots and mittens to be sure!). I was even hesitating about using it for the title and the introduction, as this outfit isn't truly shabby, except for the cap. In the end I decided to mention it, as I wanted to express that I like the concept of Christmas in LoTRO - how they made us choose between helping poor people and gaining no fancy rewards on the first sight, and obtaining beautiful cosmetics for the cost of letting poor Little Match Girl suffer.

The cloak is one of two new Yule festival cloaks. I had opportunity to play through this year's Yule festival for the first time today and this cloak seemed to be less used compared to the other one, despite its beauty. I think the reason are undyable parts of dull pink and grey (only the ornaments change colour upon dying). The "dull pink" is exactly the shade which most of cosmetics usually dye in rose, and therefore are very rarely used in this colour (even for girly outfits). This gave me wonderful opportunity to create a match which hopefully pleases the eye even though the shades aren't really popular :)

It was a bleak winter day, when not even snowflakes were going to please the Free People - it was raining. Almost everyone stayed in warmth of their homes, except for one. Manequithir stood guard in Celondim, usually a vivid harbour for ships departing to Mithlond. Today even the ships stayed docked, and Manequithir had plenty of time to contemplate all the uneasy thoughts troubling his mind. There is a lot going to happen and the outcome is uncertain. But then, a single drop of rain fell on his sword and made him shine like pure chunk of mithril with all colours of the rainbow, and Manequithir realized there was still light where we would least expect it.

I've created this outfit and took the screenshots before Update 5. I've been having a very busy week at work before Christmas, plus I'm preparing to launch a new project which you will hear about soon :) So I decided to pull this outfit out to avoid much time spent ingame I can't afford. Currently, the skin of the chest piece is broken - it looks like other armour. However, it was bugged many times and we all hope it will be fixed soon. This skin is shared by armour piece under different names also (all level 66+ quest rewards) - I'm not sure which ones are broken and which ones not. You can look them all up in Devonna's guide to RoI quest rewards.

Who watches the watchmen? There are many guards in Bree, but who knows what little secrets do they share and what kind of mischief do they plot. Acromir might be considered the villain, as he is a burglar, but instead of burgling he oversees the night town and takes care of Breelanders' safety. When you see a shadow moving between rooftops next time, maybe there's no need to be scared. But one can never know ;)

Acromir said about his outfit: "When making this costume, I tried to make it semi-realistic for a burglar. In actual night-time, there is never pure black. People who wear black clothing (the stereotypical ninja) show up really well, because there is always some light (stars, distant lights, etc) and so shadows are never that dark. Grey, however, shows up a lot at night-time and blends in with most building or natural materials. Most of this stuff is from lvl 65-70 questing in Dunland. I realized that some of the stuff looked cool, and started trying everything on before I picked a reward. I had to sacrifice some gear with better stats to get these, but it was definitely worth it."

Remorseless treasure hunter

Freyjuska had a terrible nightmare tonight. Her dream started all good. She was digging for some gold and precious gemstones. She had a cave-claw companion, who a great gold-sniffer skills and she soon started to treat him as a friend, not just a pet. As they became richer, other treasure hunters started to envy them. She remained indifferent to them, until one morning she found her dear cave-claw friend butchered. Freyjuska went insane, swore to forever seek revenge and made herself and her horse a battle garb from cave-claw skulls. Seeing herself butchering some innocent traveler, Freyjuska woke up from the horrible nightmare covered in sweat. I bet she will never dig for gold again - or at least, until the Treasure Hunt starts again.

My recent luck amazes me. A few days ago, I won a Fleet-footed Goat in a lottery, and today I got a very unique mount from my first large treasure chest in the Treasure Hunt event sneak peak. I bet I will never get any good loot from now on :) But at least I can share this new mount pictures with you.
I've never thought I would use the terrible blood-stained cloak in any outfit. Frankly, I think this is the only evil outfit I've made so far and I didn't really feel good dressing Freyjuska like that. But for some reason, the cave-claw mask and mount seem kinda evil-ish to me. Even the weather was rainy, or rather stormy in Middle-earth tonight, so it completed the whole atmosphere of the composition.

When it comes to Treasure Hunt itself, it was up today only for 2 hours and I managed to try it for about an hour. However, even in such short time it was much fun and the rewards (especially the cosmetic ones) are very interesting and unique. As far as I've heard, there is also a goat mount given as a rare reward from treasure chests (same as this horse/pony). But there were also downsides to this event - getting pickaxes necessary for digging treasures is time-consuming (repeatable quest with 15 minutes cooldown yields only 2 pickaxes) and the other repeatable is almost impossible to complete when there are many people around (if I ever hear of berries, I will follow Freyjuska in her nightmare and get crazy). Otherwise, all good :D

Following is the sneak-peak of Jeweller's Helm, another cosmetic item from this event (and again, I was lucky to get it from a chest - otherwise it's pretty expensive on tokens). I will make next outfit around it and it will be really hard not to name it "Freyjuska of Borg"or "Resistance is futile" :))

Wish: Courageous and noble warrior

This outfit was wished by Vikuuta, level 38 champion of Firefoot more than two weeks ago. It is an example of outfit which doesn't contain any quest rewards - only not bind-on-acquire items, which can be crafted or purchased at any level and equipped cosmetically via wardrobe. Basically, if you have gold or good friends (or both :)), you can wear it from level 1 (more or less - after you can access the wardrobe) until level 75 and it looks pretty good in most colours.

Vikuuta asked for following criteria to be met by his outfit:

• Armour should show the metal parts, but still show the colour of the armour
• Colour of the armour:  grey (the metal), green and, if possible, some details in gold
• A helmet that doesn't show the face of the warrior
• Some big boots
• Some giant shoulder guards
• Some big gloves, too

I sent Vikuu the first design:

...and I was really surprised by his amazing reaction, he loved the initial design very much and didn't want to change anything! But I myself wasn't still confident that this outfit is something that would really make him stand out in the crowd, as he wanted to.

I played with other cloaks and gauntlets. I didn't want to change the boots, which might not be big and badass looking, but it was my purpose. I wanted to make them "disappear" and kinda compensate for the upper part of the outfit being very broad. This way, the whole body creates a V-shape so typical for well-trained warriors.

I sent Vikuu the variations of gloves and cloaks, as well as colour switch - I tried Ered Luin blue just because of the noble feeling to it. And voila - to me, it clicked absolutely!

Vikuu liked it very much also and agreed blue one is better, because it adds to the 'warrior' feeling. However, he also mentioned beautiful symbolics he wanted to express by colour of his outfit - green being the colour of courage. So in the end, we decided to show you, readers, both variations :)

It might take Vikuuta some time until he gets all the pieces necessary with the help of his friends, so he asked me to publish his outfit with screenshots of my character. I hope we will be able to update this post with Vikuuta's own screenies soon!

The Spirit of Gondolin lives on in the Noldor, particularly Daerundros, who honours her mother, a member of the House of the Swallow, by donning the White Colours of Gondolin in the Wilderness. With her bow and her quiver full of the Silver Arrows of Gondolin, servants of the Enemy and any who dare to contradict this fierce Archer be wary; Her shots almost never miss.

Brave cub of the East

Phloxie has never cared much about clothes. She is a warden and wardens value utility above everything else - even she as a hobbit prefers protective and flexible attire to fancy mathomy robes. Yet when she saw travelling merchant's goods in Oatbarton, she didn't hesitate for a second and bought this armour. The merchant said he bartered for the leggings and helmet in Celondim harbour (which has been frequently visited by travellers from Rhûn). Phloxie's wary guess is that he'd rather stolen it, but who cares - now, the armour will bear the blood of all who attack Phloxie's friends. She will defend them with her bear strength!

Phloxie is my baby warden, currently leveling in Evendim. Similar to Brewbelly, I've awfully neglected her in terms of outfitting. I have been searching for a nice leathery outfit, which would express the warden character as well as cuteness of a hobbit. I was lucky to get the Survivor's Jacket as nobody needed in it my raid and decided to combine this typical warden piece with more exotic clothes from Dunland.

This outfit was submitted by Kemendin, who put great effort into making a Rohirrim Rider outfit: "I was so excited to see the Rohirrim NPCs all decked out in their Rider finery after being disappointed by the sight of only place-holder NPCs in the beta. My Guardian, Ellaen Fremedon, hails from Rohan and has spent much of her time in Eriador, Moria, and Mirkwood ensuring that those she meets in her travels are able to readily recognize her as a Rider of Rohan - her pride and heritage are what she thrives on. Therefore, upon seeing the epicness of the various Rohirrim encampments, I challenged myself to come up with an outfit that would come close to matching those of the NPCs. It was surprisingly entertaining to stand around in the camps doing various emotes and pretending to be an NPC suddenly come to life!"

I think Kemendin did a great job and got really close to the Rohirrim NPC outfits. Isn't that rascally Eowyn, the most famous guardian in the Red Book, peeking from behing the helm? ;)

Whether it's fighting dragons or posing in Rivendell for all the elves to see, Rey can't ever complain that his life is boring. Green and brown ranger clothes were never enough for this elven hunter. Instead he loved bright reds. He would prance around mobs and aggro five to ten mobs at a time, often having to resort to using Desperate flight to get away. Attention seeker to the max, his Camouflage skill is never used and he bursts into fights often with the first shot and overpowered with burn hot. Guess it suits his red flashy armor.

Merry bounder

Wasabito, a courageous warden of Michel Delving, is a merry hobbit fellow. However, even though wants to look bright flirting with joyful hobbit lasses, he also needs to be serious on duty, not to be made fun of by some noisy kids! In this armour, he shall never be overlooked. Beware while you travel through the Shire, you never know where you will meet the hand of law!

Yellow dye is one of the most underused ones from my perspective. It makes many cosmetics look rather funny. Luckily, especially hobbits can wear really extravagant outfits and they really shine in them. For this bounder outfit, I decided to go for grey accents to dominant bright yellow hauberk and shoulder pad. I also used lovely Harbringer's Cloak, which I love for very interesting pattern it bears.

Lady of Rhûn

A few days ago, a ship bearing the most unusual passengers arrived at the Celondim harbour. They were the Avari elves, so rarely seen in these lands. Avari are ancient elves who refused Oromë's summons to Valinor and remained in their lands, dwelling in the forests and discovering the seas. Our visitors come from Rhûn, the area to the far east from Eriador. They didn't want to talk about their business here, they asked for hospitality of only a few particular elves residing in Falathorn, and remained discussing private matters there for days. Who knows what brings them to our lands? News of the Easterlings? Or some worse evil?

I wanted to make an outfit around Clanweave Leggings since I got them as the quest reward. They add beautiful curves even to subtle elven posture, but are terribly hard to match with the chest piece because of both colouring (undyable grey and rust areas) and the body shape they create. Quite frankly, the matching Clanweave Robe looks horrible on female characters - on contrast to the leggings, it makes the body less feminine than any other armour.

So I just couldn't come up with something which wouldn't look too exotic and mismatching with the other pieces. Until I came across the headgear drop in level 75 School of Tham Mírdain run. It is a caster piece, but I was lucky that our minnie didn't want it and I could take it as the most precious treasure for my wardrobe :) It immediately reminded me of pharaohs, and also medieval Arabic ladies from old movies. This outfit is very remotely inspired by Nefertiti, but I didn't want to make it as an inspiration - I aimed for Middle-earth appropriate outfit.

Wish-based inspiration: Legolas

This inspiration was suggested by Maeglaz more than two months ago. I knew this was going to be hard - the archetype of LOTRO hunters is a big challenge. Since then, I've tried to approach Legolas' movie appearance countless times and it always looked horrible. I'm not a big fan of ranger green dye, and there wasn't a hauberk nor gloves any similar to my model. As you probably noticed, I'm questing a lot in RoI zones and when I bumped into these wonderful bracers, I knew this time I might finally do a Legolas outfit I could even publish :)

Tall elven shadow quickly shimmered between the trees. Legolas has returned to his fellowship from scouting the surrounding deep forest. Nothing could escape his wary hearing and judicious, yet piercing sight. Sindarin elf and the Prince of Mirkwood never let his friends down, and never will, even if they are foolish enough to step into the darkest places.

The hauberk is not a very close match, but I felt it's better to have a little extra ring mail and belt, than to struggle with old hauberks' fit on male elves. I was also considering Shirriff's Hauberk dyed ranger green, but it makes an elf too slim and has pattern which Legolas' movie hauberk didn't have as well.

We have seen Rendalc's casual outfit, but every decent hobbit burglar should also have an armour ready to wear to battle, no matter how fierce. Despite his mischievous nature, kind of expected for a burglar of his reputation, he dressed up in a noble way to cheer up the hobbits present in the Last Homely House: "Don't worry pals, we will keep the Middle-Earth safe until you're done with your mission. It's in the right hands!"
